At the hour appointed, Mr. Speaker and the House attended upon His Excellency the Governor General [Viscount Monck], with the Address of the House.

And being returned;

Mr. Speaker reported, that the House had attended upon His Excellency [Viscount Monck] with their Address in answer to the Speech of His Excellency to both Houses of the Legislature, to which His Excellency [Viscount Monck] was pleased to make the following answer:—

Mr. Speaker and Gentlemen of the Legislative Assembly: I thank you for this Address. I am happy to hear that you are prepared to enter at once upon the discussion of the several important subjects that I have submitted to you.
