A PREVISION OF A HOT SESSION.
Why don’t you call the House, George E?
And how do you propose
To stop the mouths of those who ask
Where all the money goes ?
‘Tis a knowing plan to put it off
Till the sun is hot and strong,
And members almost stewed to death,
Won’t bear discussions long.
George E! George E!
Why don’t you call the House?
George E! George E!
Why don’t you call the House?
Where’s now George Brown’s once famous plan
To fix, by changeless law,
The calling of the House each year,
Just at the January thaw,
By Constitution written down,
Prepared with care and toil?
Poor George’s Constitution now
Has all passed off in oil.
George E., &c.
You’re waiting in a style, George E.,
As months roll fast away,
That A. T. Galt won’t like at all
When called to find the pay.
McDougall’s was a pleasant trip,
As he quaffed cool sangaree,
While all Barbadoes bells did ring
In that jolly Colony.
George E! &c.
‘Twas pleasant sure in winter time,
To run from snow and ice;
But awkward questions may be put,
Which aren’t half so nice
As landing ‘mid the boom of guns
To meet the jovial train,
Of Governors, with attendants gay,
Along the Spanish Main.
George E! &c.
The after dinner speeches,
George, And how do you propose
To stop the mouths of those who ask
Where all the money goes? ‘
Tis a knowing plan to put it off
Till the sun is hot and strong,
And members almost stewed to death,
Won’t bear discussions long.
