REVISED STATUTES AMENDMENT ACT.

SECOND AND THIRD READINGS.

Hon. Mr. TEMPLEMAN moved the second reading of Bill (193) An Act to amend the Revised Statutes respecting the salaries of certain public functionaries and other annual charges on the Consolidated Revenue.

He said : This Bill is simply to provide for the salaries of the Lieutenant Governors of the new provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta, fixing their salaries at $9,000 per annum, which is the same as the salaries of Lieutenant Governors in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and Manitoba. I think, in Quebec and Ontario they are paid $10,000, in Prince Edward Island $7,000. All the others are paid $9,000.

The motion was agreed to, and the Bill was read the second and third time under a suspension of the rules.
