GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
8th October, 1864.
SIR;
I have the honor herewith to enclose a correspondence between the Governor General and myself on the subject of a Deputation from this Province to attend a Conference to be held at Quebec on the 10th instant, the proposed Conference to consider the question of a Union of Canada and the Maritime Provinces.
In compliance with the Governor General’s request, that I would name a Deputation to represent Prince Edward Island at this forthcoming Conference, I appointed the following gentlemen, viz: Hon. Messrs. Gray, Palmer, W. R. Pope, Davies, Coles, Haviland, Whelan and A. A. Macdonald. All these gentlemen have proceeded to Canada to attend the Conference with the exception of Mr. Davies, who is detained by business engagements.
