Mr. MacKay presented a petition from the county of Pictou in relation to the union of the Colonies. He showed that petitioners wished for time in order that the subject might be thoroughly discussed; and he was glad to find that the government did not intend to take any immediate action upon the subject.

[…] Mr. Donkin presented a petition from James Emery and others of Amherst, in reference to the Union of the Colonies; also one from Charles Porter and others against the school bill.
Mr. Ross presented two petitions from Baddeck on the subject of Confederation. […]
