INTERPROVINCIAL TRUCKING
In the interests of minimizing the barriers to
interprovincial truck movements and in view of the need
for provinces to implement a cooperative regime for the
regulation of interprovincial trucking:
l) The Premiers recognize the need for, importance
of and benefits to the interprovincial trucking industry,
and through them to shippers, for the adoption of as much
compatability as possible in the regulation, licensing
and operation of interprovincial trucking.
2) The Premiers recommend to their Ministers
responsible for interprovincial trucking that they and
their officials work towards more compatability in truck
weights and truck sizes particularly at this point in
time when metric conversions are being implemented.
3) The Premiers direct their Ministers responsible
for interprovincial trucking through the Conference of
Ministers Responsible for Transportation and Highway
Safety to recommend a plan for interprovincial vehicle
licensing reciprocity taking into account the recent

that the Chairman report such recommendation to the 1979
Premiers’Conference for adoption.
4) The Premiers direct that the Canadian
Conference of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA)
continue their efforts towards improving the compatability
and simplification of interprovincial trucking regulation,
