John A. Macdonald [Kingston, Attorney-General West] moved

That the adjourned debate on his motion for an Address to Her Majesty on the subject of the Confederation of the British North American Provinces be continued from day to day, until disposed of, and be the first order of the day, after half-past 7 p.m., of each day.

Luther Holton [Chateauguay]—Does that apply to Government days?

John A. Macdonald [Kingston, Attorney-General West]—As well. The Government can go on with Government business in the afternoon, and enter upon the discussion of the Confederation scheme in the evening session.

The motion was then carried.
